The actual time a student needs to take the Spatial Test Battery (STB) varies greatly according to: 1) whether the Perspectives sub-test is given or not, 2) the time needed to complete the tutorials and 3) whether sub-tests are completed in less than the allotted time. Some 5th and 6th graders manage to take the Spatial Test Battery in less than half an hour. For 7th graders and older students, testing times of more than one and a half hours are the exception. Note: Some of the test questions are experimental and will not count towards the student's score. | 5th and 6th Graders: Minutes Allowed | 5th and 6th Graders: Number of Questions | 7th Graders and older: Minutes Allowed | 7th Graders and older: Number of Questions | General Tutorial | 15 | | 15 | | Questionnaire | 4 | | 4 | | Visual Memory: Memorization Phase: Instructions | 3 | | 3 | | Visual Memory: Memorization Phase: Viewing of Shapes | 8 | 15 Shapes to memorize--No questions to answer | 8 | 22 Shapes to memorize--No questions to answer | Surface Development: Tutorial | 4 | | 4 | | Surface Development: Exam | 12 | 30 (6 Pairs of shapes and boxes with 5 questions for each pair) | 12 | 30 (6 Pairs of shapes and boxes with 5 questions for each pair) | Block Rotation: Tutorial | 5 | | 5 | | Block Rotation: Exam | 12 | 20 | 9 | 20 | Visual Memory Recall Phase: Repeated Instructions | 2 | | 2 | | Visual Memory Recall Phase: Exam | 8 | 15 | 8 | 20 | Perspectives: Tutorial | Not Given to 5th and 6th graders | Not Given to 5th and 6th graders | 6 | | Perspectives: Exam | Not Given to 5th and 6th graders | Not Given to 5th and 6th graders | 19 | 22 | Survey/Comments | 10 | | 10 | | Totals | 83 | 65 | 109 | 92 |
