Summer Programs

Grades 2-12

Below you will find information on the variety of summer programs CTY offers, including eligibility requirements, catalog information, program dates, and links to sample syllabi.

New for 2008:
The CTY/Middlebury-Monterey Language Immersion Program for students in grades six through nine.


Programs for Grades 2-4

CTY offers summer day programs for qualified students who have completed grades 2-4 in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan areas, as well as in West Los Angeles and Pasadena, California. Eligibility for the program is based on what grade the student has completed, as well as his/her score on the CTY-administered SCAT test. You can also view the 2008 catalog and sample syllabi.

Program dates for 2008:

First session: June 29 - July 18
Second session: July 20 - August 8


Programs for Grades 5-6

CTY offers summer residential and day programs on the east and west coasts for qualified students who have completed grades 5-6. Day site locations (which also include classes for students who have completed grades 2-4) are in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area, as well as in West Los Angeles and Pasadena, California. Eligibility for the program is based on what grade the students has completed, as well as his/her score on the CTY-administered SCAT test. You can also view the 2008 catalog and sample syllabi.

Second session: July 20 - August 8


Programs for Grades 7 and Above

CTY offers two residential programs for qualified students who have completed grades 7 and above.

CTY Grades 7 and Above is available to students whose SAT or ACT scores place them above the mean for college-bound high school seniors. Please see the Eligibility Chart. You can also view the 2008 catalog and sample syllabi.

CAA Grades 7 and Above is available to students with a wider range of SAT or ACT scores. Please see the Eligibility Chart. You can also view the 2008 catalog and sample syllabi.

Programs for Grades 10-12

CTY offers two programs for students in grades 10-12. The Civic Leadership Institute is offered at site locations in Baltimore, Maryland, and San Francisco, California. And for the second summer, we are offering a program at Princeton University focusing on Global Issues in the 21st Century.

CTY Princeton: June 29 - July 18


International Programs

CTY is proud to offer international programs in three countries: China, Spain, and Mexico. The program in Nanjing, China is offered to students who will have completed grades 9-12. The program in Madrid, Spain is offered to students who will have completed grades 7-12.

There are two program sites in Mexico. The program in Puebla is for students who will have completed grades 7-10, while the program in Monterrey is for students will have complete grades 9-12.

Program dates for 2008:

CTY-Nanjing: July 6 - July 26
CTY-Monterrey: July 6 - July 25
CTY-Puebla: July 6 - July 25
CTY Madrid: July 27 - August 15
