2012 Catalog for 5th-10th graders

Welcome
Welcome to the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (CTY) Hong Kong University of Science and Technology joint program in Hong Kong—a three-week program for academically talented middle and high school students in grades 5 through 10/years 6 through 111 in 13 year schools. Based at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), a world-class university located on Clear Water Bay in Kowloon, the Johns Hopkins CTY Hong Kong University of Science and Technology joint program combines the strength of CTY’s summer programs with the benefits of studying in an historically rich and important city in East Asia. HKUST’s facilities include excellent classrooms and labs, recreational facilities, and comfortable dormitory rooms. (We can only accommodate students in grade 7 and above in the residential program at this time. Students in the Young Students Program—Grades 5 and 6—can only participate in the program as commuters.)

As you move through this web site, you will learn more about what this program has to offer and how CTY courses can help highly able students explore their potential to the fullest. If you have already experienced CTY summer programs, we welcome you back—albeit this time, on the other side of an ocean.

How to Use this Web Site
Please read carefully through each part of the web site. You will find plenty of information about our program and answers for many questions you may have. For quick answers to specific questions, view the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) section.
