One of the privileges of being an SDB teaching fellow is the opportunity to nominate a colleague for recognition as an SDB administrative fellow. This is someone who, as a school administrator, fostered a climate in which the nominator flourished as a teacher prior to or during selection as an SDB fellow. Each year SDB Fellows in the previous class receive a request to nominate an administrator, along with a nomination form and asked to write an essay as follows: - The essay describes how the nominated administrator assisted the teacher in performing their work at a high level.
- How decisions by the nominee nurtured the achievement of students, particularly those students of high ability.
- Offer specific examples of support and inspiration for adults and students.
- Discuss the nominee’s contributions to others at their school or in their district or to the profession as a whole.
Nominees are invited to apply for the SDB Fellowship, where the nominator is identified by name. A panel of CTY educators reviews the applications and selects the new class of Fellows. The number of acceptances will vary from year to year.
