Click here for the CTY Talent Search Coordinator Guide page for schools! Like you, at CTY we’re dedicated to providing a challenge to very bright students. Letting your gifted students and their families know about CTY shows your support of the ongoing academic needs of this special group of children. It opens up to these unique kids a larger community of advanced learners from all over the world. And, for educators who are content experts and work well with very bright students, we might also have a place for you! Since 1979, the Center for Talented Youth (CTY), a division of The Johns Hopkins University, has identified top academic students in grades two through eight and provided them challenging educational programs through their 10th grade year. In residential summer programs, online classes, and family conferences, gifted students meet others like themselves, stretch their creative and intellectual wings, and discover where their special talents may take them. Here's how it works: CTY conducts an annual Talent Search, during which teachers and guidance counselors in over 10,000 schools nominate students from grades two through eight who have scored at or above the 95th percentile on any nationally normed test. These students then take above-grade-level tests focused on math and verbal reasoning, the results of which provide useful information to them, their families, and their schools. Some students will qualify for CTY’s online programs and summer programs at US locations on the east and west coasts, where they enjoy a college-style stay including challenging courses taught by terrific instructors. You can be one of these instructors. Teaching a group of 15 extremely bright, creative, and inquisitive CTY students is an experience unlike any other in teaching.
