In the mid 1990s, CTY founded CTY International with organizations united by a common vision: to help academically talented students strive for excellence by providing academic programs with their abilities in mind. Like CTY, these affiliates identify talented youths through high rankings on standardized tests. International CTY-affiliate sites provide easy access for students from around the world seeking the CTY experience; American CTY participants may also attend international CTY programs.
CTY Spain is spearheaded by Dr. Javier Touron of the University of Navarra, who is known for his work in standardized testing and test validation with Spanish students.
The Irish Centre for Talented Youth (CTYI) is a national educational center founded by Dublin City University in 1992 in close cooperation with CTY. It provides courses for high ability students ages 12 to 16. Students from Ireland, the United States, and other parts of Europe have attended the Summer Academic Programmes, held on the 50-acre DCU campus. CTY offers a German exchange program in collaboration with Bildung und Begabung e.V. This association organizes the Deutsche Schuelerakademie, a residential program offering more than 600 students boarding school programs during the months of July and August. Selected American participants become immersed in German life and language during a week stay in the home of a German student’s family followed by a 16-day CTY-style academy conducted entirely in German. The Institute for Talented Students in Bermuda oversees a talent search program modeled after CTY. The Center for Academic Services at Mae Fah Luang University also oversees a talent search program modeled after CTY. CTY is also a member of the Advisory Committee on Exceptional Children and Youth for the Office of Overseas Schools, in conjunction with the U.S. Department of State. The committee helps serve and promote the increase of resources for students with special educational needs in over 200 international schools for dependents of American citizens serving the U.S. government abroad.
