Imagine a place where a teenage Stephen Hawking could have sparred with Einstein over physics, or where an eighth-grade science fair project could be an in-road to college. Cogito.org aims to be that place. Developed by CTY, with generous support from the John Templeton Foundation and others, Cogito.org is a home for the most promising young mathematicians and scientists from both the U.S. and around the world. Cogito.org’s name is derived from the Latin translation of Descartes’ famous maxim, “I think, therefore I am”—Cogito ergo sum. With a comprehensive free database for all users, along with special invitational forums, Cogito links bright students in a safe, secure environment where they not only meet peers and future colleagues, but have the chance to share conversation with top scientists and mathematicians already in the field. In addition, they have the opportunity to write and publish their own research and keep up with the latest developments in areas of study ranging from global warming and biomedical research to astrophysics and nanotechnology. Want to learn how you can help Cogito.org continue to connect young thinkers around the world? Email cogitocty@jhu.edu, or phone (410) 735-6121 to find out more. |
