1. Who is eligible to attend Family Academic Programs? All CTY Talent Search participants are eligible to attend Family Academic Programs. There are no minimum qualifying scores required, so do not wait for test scores to sign up. Register now! Siblings and friends will be admitted only if they have been registered for the event, and, in general, only if their age is within two years of the program grade limit. However, due to the programming needs and requirements of our host institutions in the Discovery Series, all participants must be at least ten years old to attend any Discovery program. In consideration of all program participants and speakers, children under the age of five may not attend Family Academic Programs. Thank you. At least one parent or guardian must register and attend with the student(s).
2. How do I register for a Family Academic Program? We have three convenient registration options: - Fax the registration form to 866-832-8621
- Register online
- Mail the registration form to CTY Family Programs, PO Box 64300, Baltimore, MD 21264
Unfortunately, we cannot accept registrations over the phone. All registration forms must be accompanied by payment (check, money order, Mastercard, or Visa). Please submit your registration only once to avoid duplicate charges.
3. May I register for a Family Academic Program on the day of the event?
Yes, but only if space is available, and only on a first-come, first-served basis. You need to contact CTY before the program to verify the policy for your specific site as procedures vary among sites. Please provide a fax number and we will send directions. However, this does not guarantee you a space on the day of the event as we cannot hold spots without registration payment. We suggest you arrive early at the site for walk-in registration. Please call 410-735-6115, 8:30-5:00 EST for late registration information.
4. May I add another person to my registration after I have already registered for an event?
Yes, if space is available, you may register and pay for another person at the door on the day of the program. However, it is preferable that you contact us in advance of a program to add another participant. Please call us at 410-735-6115 for instructions.
5. What if I cannot attend the program for which I am registered? Can I switch sites? Yes, if space is available, you may switch to another site before the event. Call 410-735-6115, 8:30-5:00 EST, fax 866-832-8621, or email ctyfam@jhu.edu your request for a different site.
6. Will I receive a credit if I cancel my registration?
Please be aware that different cancellation policies may apply for different series. In general, our credit policy works as follows for our one-day programs (Pathways to College Series, Creative Connections Series, Discovery Series One-Day Programs, Odyssey Series, Science & Technology Series): For cancellations made 30 days or more prior to the program, registrants will be charged a processing fee of $25 per family. From 29 to 15 days prior, registrants will be charged one-half of the total amount paid. There will be no credit for any cancellations received less than 15 days before the program. Processing of credits may take 5 - 6 weeks. Payments for lunches cannot be cancelled for any reason (see lunch policies below). For Discovery Series Overnight Programs (and for overnight Creative Connections programs), cancellations up to 30 days prior to the program result in a $50 processing fee per family. From 29 to 15 days prior, registrants will be charged one-half of the total amount paid. There will be no credit for any cancellations received less than 15 days before the program. For Discovery Series Extended Programs, cancellations made 30 days or more prior to the program result in a $250 processing fee per family. From 29 to 15 days prior, registrants will be charged one-half of the total amount paid. There will be no credit for any cancellations received less than 15 days before the program. Cancellation policies for our Educational Travel Programs vary. Please contact 410-735-6115, 8:30 - 5:00 EST, or ctyfam@jhu.edu for additional information.
7. What are the lunch arrangements for one day programs? Lunch arrangements may vary from program to program; please check your registration materials for more specific information. When lunch is offered, a variety of lunch choices, including a vegetarian option, will be provided. Participants who have special dietary requirements (e.g., allergies, religious restrictions) or who have not ordered lunches in advance should pack picnic lunches on the day of the program. In some cases, families may be able to purchase lunch on or off campus. We cannot guarantee that late registrants will have a reserved lunch. Again, please refer to your registration materials for detailed information.
8. Where do I find my student's CTY identification number? - If you have received a catalog or brochure from Family Academic Programs, your student's ID # can be found directly above his/her name on the mailing label.
- Call CTY's Information Office at 410-735-6277 or 410-735-6278 to request a MyCTY login ID to access your student's ID # and/or account.
