See below for registration information. | Location | 2009 - 2010 Dates | Mote Marine Lab and Aquarium – Sarasota, FL Dive into the amazing and unpredictable underwater world of marine life at this renowned research laboratory and aquarium. Mote Aquarium displays unique and exciting ocean animals that thrive in Florida’s diverse marine ecosystems, and is home to a Dolphin & Whale Hospital and Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Center. You will experience hands-on workshops, private guided tours of the Aquarium, kayaking through a mangrove forest, collecting critters with nets from Sarasota Bay, and much more. Whether touring the Bay aboard a private charter or dissecting a squid, you will have a very unique visit to Florida while engaging in this exciting program. Cost: $400 per person Additional Program Information | Friday, February 12 – Monday, February 15, 2010 | Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation @ Taliesin West – Scottsdale, AZ Develop your own design ideas while working at Frank Lloyd Wright’s winter home and architectural studio, a National Historic Landmark considered by many to be one of his greatest masterpieces. You will learn how Wright took everyday shapes and objects and used them, along with vivid colors and patterns, to create buildings that are works of art. “Design Your Dream Space” will immerse you in the process of architecture contemplation and planning, designing a two-dimensional floor plan to scale and building a 3-D model. You will be encouraged to examine familiar objects from a different point of view. This approach allows you to see how interrelated subjects, like math, science, art, and technology are used to create buildings. In this unique program, theory and philosophy are combined with hands-on activities that will challenge you to explore new architectural forms, energy sources, and spaces to work, learn, and live in. Hotel reservations and transportation are not included in the cost of this program.
Cost: $500 per person | Saturday, May 29 – Monday, May 31, 2010 | Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation @ Taliesin – Spring Green, WI Taliesin, Frank Lloyd Wright’s home in Wisconsin, is sometimes called Wright’s autobiography in wood and stone. Everything at Taliesin—from the buildings, to the landscaped grounds, roads and ponds, lighting, furnishings, and collected objects—is a reflection of Wright’s genius. You will learn how Wright, inspired by the geometry and organic shapes in nature, used vivid colors and patterns to create buildings that are works of art. “Design Your Dream Space” will immerse you in the process of architecture: contemplating and planning, designing a two-dimensional floor plan to scale, and building a 3-D model. You will be encouraged to examine familiar objects from a different point of view, prompting you to see how interrelated subjects, like math, science, art, and technology are linked in architecture. Throughout, you'll combine theory and philosophy with hands-on activities that will challenge you to re-examine the spaces you inhabit, explore new architectural forms, and develop beautiful environments in which to work, learn, and live. Cost: $500 per person | Saturday, June 19 – Monday, June 21, 2010 | Living Classrooms Foundation - Baltimore, MD Blue Crabs: The Chesapeake's "Beautiful Swimmers" This truly amazing program will take place on board the traditional Chesapeake Bay Buy boat, Mildred Belle. Over the years, Mildred Belle has been used for transporting oysters, dredging for crabs, trawl fishing, and even sport fishing in the Atlantic Ocean. You will participate in a fascinating journey around the Chesapeake Bay which is designed to help develop a deep appreciation for the significance of the blue crab and its importance in the ecosystem of the Bay. Some stops may include Rock Hall, St. Michaels, and Annapolis. Students and parents alike will be involved in activities, both on shore and on land, such as plankton studies, exploration of different Bay habitats, water quality testing, and museum tours. Evening activities may include night hikes, games, and campfires.
Please note: Evenings will be spent at primitive campsites along the way, where everyone will assist with camp set up, meal preparation, and clean up. More detailed information will be available upon registration.

Registration Information At least one parent or guardian must register and attend with the student(s). Siblings will be admitted only if they have been registered for the event. All students and siblings must be at least ten years of age to attend all Discovery programs. Registration is strictly limited, and participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. These are popular events, and locations fill up quickly. Please watch this website for the most up-to-date information of program details and site closings. You may register for the above programs by Registering Online or by submitting our Registration Form via fax or mail. Payment Information Payments submitted will be processed automatically upon receipt. However, your family’s reservation is secured only when you receive your written confirmation. In the event that the program is filled, you will be issued a complete credit and put on a waiting list. Please do not purchase non-refundable airline tickets or make hotel reservations until you receive your registration confirmation. Please note that all past due balances (for any CTY program) must be paid prior to registration for a Family Academic Program. All payments will be applied to past due balances first. Cancellation Policy For cancellations made 30 days or more prior to the event, registrants will be charged a processing fee of $250 per family for weekend programs. From 29 to 15 days prior, registrants will be charged one-half of the total amount paid. There will be no credit for any cancellations received less than 15 days before the event. Logistics Specific information pertinent to your location, including exact times and directions to the event, will be mailed to you prior to the program date.
