The mission of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) is to create fresh and bold interpretations of classic and contemporary plays in repertory, shaped by the diversity of our American culture, using Shakespeare as the standard and inspiration. OSF is committed to a bold, imaginative production style that illuminates the world in a fresh and insightful manner, producing theatre that inspires profound understanding and hope for the human condition. | Thursday, July 10 - Monday, July 14 | Sacramento Theatre Company: Sacramento, CA Spend Saturday evening with the Sacramento Theatre Company enjoying the adventures of a young cabin boy and the infamous pirate, Long John Silver, in this delightful adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel, Treasure Island. We will take a backstage tour and attend a pre-show prologue focusing on the social, historical, and cultural context of the play. This is Opening Night so we will also enjoy a reception after the play in the lobby of the theatre, and, as a special treat, get to meet members of the cast. On Sunday, we will tap into our imaginations by not only creating, but acting in, our own play. We will spend time warming up, writing, rehearsing, improvising, and performing (with script-in-hand) our play! Sacramento Theatre Company creates a non-competitive, nurturing atmosphere which promotes self-confidence, increases skills in public speaking and cooperation, and helps you to develop a lifelong relationship with your creative energy!Saturday evening will begin at 6:30 pm and end at approximately 11:00 p.m. Sunday will begin around 9:00 a.m. and end at 4:30 p.m. Lunch is included. All participants will receive a Sacramento Theatre Company T-shirt. CTY has reserved a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn Express, across the street from the theatre, at a rate of $99 per night, with free breakfast and parking included. | Saturday, October 11 - Sunday, October 12 | Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation at Taliesin West: Scottsdale, AZ Develop your own design ideas while working at Frank Lloyd Wright’s winter home and architectural studio, a National Historic Landmark considered by many to be one of his greatest masterpieces. You will learn how Wright took everyday shapes and objects and used them, along with vivid colors and patterns, to create buildings that are works of art. “Design Your Dream Space” will immerse you in the process of architecture contemplation and planning, designing a 2-dimensional floor plan to scale and building a 3-D model. You will be encouraged to examine familiar objects from a different point of view. This approach allows you to see how interrelated subjects, like math, science, art, and technology, are used to create buildings. In this unique program, theory and philosophy are combined with hands-on activities which will challenge you to explore new architectural forms, energy sources, and spaces to work, learn, and live in.
Sessions will run from about 1:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and 10:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. There will be a “Night Lights” tour of Taliesin on Saturday night and a “Desert Shelter” tour of student-built shelters on Monday morning (optional). Snacks and dinner will be provided on Saturday; snacks and lunch will be provided on Sunday. Families are on their own for the remaining meals. Hotel reservations and transportation are not included in the cost of this program. CTY has reserved a block of rooms at a conveniently located hotel, Country Inns & Suites, at a slightly discounted rate. A complimentary shuttle bus will run from that hotel to Taliesin West in the mornings and evenings. More specific details about times and meals will be provided upon registration.

| Salish Sea Expeditions: Anacortes, WA Become a marine biologist and sailor at this one-of-a-kind expedition designed specifically for CTY families aboard the sailing vessel Carlyn. Explore the idyllic waters of the San Juan Islands while you design and implement a marine research project from the decks of the ship. Use the Carlyn as your platform to investigate anything from plankton diversity to water quality issues, such as nutrient and dissolved oxygen levels, or even physical parameters, such as sediment analyses. You will learn to safely operate and navigate Carlyn. You will raise and lower the sails, take turns at the helm and learn navigational techniques. At night, we will have exclusive access to the camp grounds of Four Winds Westward Ho on Orcas Island where we will cook and dine, take night hikes, play games, discuss astronomy, and enjoy the campfire. In this unique experience, you will be involved in the creative development of hypotheses, testing of probable significance, development of new knowledge, and the application of that knowledge to problem-solving. Conducting such a group research project fosters cooperation and the analytical critical thinking skills needed to prepare you to thrive in our technologically driven and information-rich society. Come for a week-end of sailing, science, challenge, and fun in the Puget Sound!
The program will begin around 1:00 pm on Saturday, and end at approximately 3:00 pm on Monday. Families will spend one night on board Carlyn and the other night camping on shore at Four Winds Westward Ho. All camping gear (except sleeping bags) will be provided, as well as all meals.

Registration Information At least one parent or guardian must register and attend with the student(s). Siblings will be admitted only if they have been registered for the event. All students and siblings must be at least 9 years of age to attend all Discovery programs. Registration is strictly limited, and participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. These are popular events, and locations fill up quickly. Please watch this website for the most up-to-date information of program details and site closings. You may register for the above programs by downloading a Discovery Series Registration Form (requires Adobe Acrobat) or by Registering Online. Payment Information Payments submitted will be processed automatically upon receipt. However, your family’s reservation is secured only when you receive your written confirmation. In the event that the program is filled, you will be issued a complete credit and put on a waiting list. Please do not purchase non-refundable airline tickets or make hotel reservations until you receive your registration confirmation. Please note that all past due balances (for any CTY program) must be paid prior to registration for a family academic program. All payments will be applied to past due balances first. Cancellation Policy For cancellations up to 30 days prior to the event, registrants will be charged a processing fee of $50 per family for weekend programs. From 29 to 15 days prior, registrants will be charged one-half of the total amount paid. There will be no credit for any cancellations received less than 15 days before the event. Logistics Specific information pertinent to your location, including exact times and directions to the event, will be mailed to you prior to the program date.
