The Discovery Series is offered to Talent Search participants in the 5th - 7th grades. Students are invited to experience the wealth of resources and activities available at prestigious museums, aquariums, science centers, and zoological societies. As determined by the unique focus of each host institution, scientists, naturalists, historians, and/or artists guide participants through an exploration of on-site exhibits and activities, using their professional expertise to address the learning needs and lively curiosity of highly able students.
Program structure varies at each site. At some locations, students attend small group discovery sessions, while parents attend informational seminars and participate in discussions on related topics. At other locations, students and parents remain together to share discovery experiences. The program activities provide a stimulating environment where families share a common love of learning while discovering new interests. Students and siblings must be at least 9 years of age to attend all Discovery programs.
