Grades 2 - 6 Qualifying verbal or math score and successful completion of Chinese for Elementary Students, Intermediate Level, Part II, or equivalent
This course is a continuation of Chinese for Elementary Students, Intermediate Part II. Students continue to reinforce listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. The topics include school life, leisure life, letter writing, and asking questions. In this level, students are required to write almost exclusively in character. Writing and grammar are emphasized with the focus being on the student's ability to form descriptive sentences. Online courses are held twice per week, and separate conversational sessions with instructor and teaching assistant are arranged with each student. Students interact with the instructors and other students using Internet-based software. The course materials include a textbook, workbook, and CD-ROM. The tentative schedule for online interactive sessions is not yet available.

All CTY Online courses require a properly-maintained computer with Internet access and a recent-version web browser (such as Explorer 6, Firefox, or Safari). Students are expected to be familiar with standard computer operations (e.g. login, cut & paste, email attachments, etc). |
