We are happy to say that most of our courses run on MacOS (or even Linux in many cases). However a few courses, such as C and Java Programming, are only for MS Windows. A Mac can also run these courses, but the process may get very technical. You will need to be fairly good at working with both MacOS and Windows. This is not recommended for computer novices. There are two major options for new Intel-based Macs to run Windows software: Caveat: You will need your own Windows installer CD. A G4 or G5 Mac may also participate in Windows-only courses by adding emulation software such as Virtual PC. This will simulate a fully functional Windows computer as a program on your Mac. Our Windows-based courses should run reasonably well in emulation. This method is not as fast as a real PC - expect it to behave like a PC about 3 years older than your Mac - and it requires a lot of RAM. Cost: $200ish for VPC with Windows XP, or $100ish if you already own a Windows installer CD.
CTY will provide Mac help to the best of our ability for enrolled students, including software setup, scroll mouse suggestions, and general Mac maintenance. |
