Grades 7 - 12 Qualifying verbal score and successful completion of Beginning Chinese, Part II or equivalent 0.5 credit
Beginning Chinese Part III is a continuation of Beginning Chinese Part II. Students continue to reinforce listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Our emphasis in this course is on conversation skills. By the end of these three parts of Beginning Chinese courses, students will be able to manage most colloquial expressions and will be on the right track to speak Chinese accurately and fluently. By the end of Beginning Chinese Part III, the student will be able to perform the following rubrics: - Listening and speaking skills. Students should become more comfortable with Chinese customs and will be able to communicate about daily tasks with Chinese people.
- Writing skills. Students should be able to recognize and write most of the Chinese characters and the pinyin mastered.
- Reading skills. Students should be able to read short story books.
- Grammar skills. Students will develop basic grammar and sentence structure skills.
Students interact with the instructors and other students using Internet-based software. The course materials include a textbook, workbook, and CD-ROM. The tentative schedule for conversation practice sessions is:
Monday and Wednesday, from 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm (EST).
