Some would say that seven hours of class a day, especially during the summer, is torture. I loved it. Learning is a passion for me and there was never a shortage of learning while I was at CTY. Offering the Center for Talented Youth's challenging academic programs to all bright children who qualify, regardless of their family's ability to pay, is a crucial part of our mission. In 2010, parents, friends, alumni, foundaitons and corporations provided 1,639 qualified students a total of $4.9 million in financial aid, allowing us to award scholarships to more than 17% of the 9,448 students who attended from the United States and other countries last summer. The average family income for those students was $28,908.
