CTY students have a one-time opportunity to nominate teachers as an SDB fellow. If you have previously nominated a teacher, please allow other students to exercise this privilege (special note).
To nominate a teacher, you will need to download and complete the electronic nomination form and write an essay. Once completed, print two copies the eForm (one for your records) and carefully follow the instructions to submit the nomination.
The Teacher Nomination - To complete the nomination, you need to consult with the teacher you wish to nominate. Confirm you have spoken with the nominee by checking the box at the bottom of page 1 on the form. The person nominated can be your current or former teacher.
The Essay - On page 2 of the eForm, write an essay of no more than 500 words or 2500 characters describing the teacher’s contribution to your experience as a highly able student.
- State the grade level and subject in which the teacher contributed to your growth as a highly able student.
- Be sure to include classroom examples of this contribution.
- Check your spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
- At this time, please do not share your essay with the teacher. A copy of your essay will accompany the teacher’s certificate of recognition.
No later than October 16, 2009, mail the completed nomination eForm to: Ms. Sharon Stenhouse Johns Hopkins University / CTY McAuley Hall, Ste. 400 5801 Smith Ave. Baltimore, MD 21209 stenhouse@jhu.edu
